BIO
I’m currently attending classes at MSCTC for an AAS in their print focused graphic design program. My goal in this program is widen my focus from primarily web content to print media as well. Graphic design is a passion that sparked at an early age, around 10 years-old, when I had to urge to create a website of my own. Of course I didn’t have content for a website but that didn’t stop me from experimenting with all of the free hosting and web based ‘what you see is what you get’ editors (which were in their infancy at that point) until I eventually began learning the basics of HTML and using programs such as Photoshop in my designs. A large majority of my knowledge is purely self-taught, usually by messing around in the programs and testing out all the different tools and options.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Consistent in all of my work is a notion of simplicity, but not simplicity in the sense of graphics or looks; instead simplicity in regards to layout. I believe that an effective layout needs to be simple and consistent with attributes that allow the viewer to easily identify where/ what the content is and how to navigate through it. Don’t overcomplicate what doesn’t need to be complicated. Remove unnecessary images or content that will strain bandwidth. Always design with all of the websites potential viewers in mind. This means that you must take people on dial-up connections, lower resolution monitors, and older computers into consideration. The quality of a website is one of the main points that a new potential web customer will base their opinion off of. If the website is of poor quality and difficult to navigate then it destroys the integrity of your business making people less likely to trust or buy from it, regardless of how business actually operates.
